ST8078 40V 150mA low-power LDO regulator

ST8078 40V 150mA Low-Dropout (LDO) Linear Regulator

ST8078

The ST8078 is a 40V high-input-voltage, 150mA low-power LDO regulator with a typical quiescent current of only 2.5uA that greatly extends battery life. Dropout is just 400mV at 100mA load (VOUT=5V); the output is selectable from 1.2V to 5.0V in 0.1V steps (above 5V customizable) with ±2% accuracy (±1% on request). It integrates a 180mA output current limit plus foldback short-circuit and thermal protection, and comes in a SOT-89-3 package for battery-powered and high-voltage-input power management.

Overview

The ST8078 series are positive-output, low-power, low-dropout linear regulators supporting a wide 3V to 40V input range. They can deliver 150mA output current even when the input/output voltage differential drops to 400mV (VOUT=5V), and provide foldback short-circuit protection, thermal protection and output current limit. The ultra-low quiescent current of 2.5uA greatly extends battery life, and the output voltage is selectable from 1.2V to 5.0V in 0.1V steps with customization available above 5V. The ST8078 integrates a high-accuracy voltage reference, error amplifier, current limit circuit and output driver, offers good load transient response and temperature characteristics, and uses trimming technology to guarantee output voltage accuracy within ±2%.
