Infineon OPTIREG TLE9744QK Integrates Power, Resolver Excitation and ASIL-D Safety for EV Traction Inverters

Infineon Technologies has introduced the OPTIREG TLE9744QK, a fully integrated power management IC (PMIC) designed for the high-voltage traction inverters of electric and hybrid vehicles. Announced in mid-September 2026, the device consolidates the complete power-supply functions for the inverter's control electronics, resolver excitation for motor position sensing, and a dedicated safety engine into a single chip. According to Infineon's press materials and product documentation, the single-chip approach replaces multiple discrete devices, cutting the PCB footprint of the replaced circuitry by up to 70% while reducing bill-of-materials count and system cost. For engineers and buyers specifying inverter ECU power architectures, the launch signals how deeply functional safety is now being integrated into the power supply itself.

What the TLE9744QK Integrates

According to Infineon's official product page, the TLE9744QK uses a pre-regulator plus post-regulator multi-rail architecture:

Why Traction Inverters Need This Integration

A traction inverter's control electronics require multiple isolated power rails for the MCU, communication modules and sensors, a resolver excitation circuit for rotor position sensing, and a safety path that keeps working even when the MCU fails. Conventional designs implement these functions with discrete DC-DC converters, LDOs, watchdog ICs and resolver drivers, which raises part count and increases the functional-safety certification workload. The TLE9744QK merges all three functions into one ISO 26262-compliant PMIC, directly reducing device count and safety-case complexity.

What It Means for Inverter ECU Programs

  • BOM and board area. The up-to-70% footprint reduction applies to the replaced discrete circuitry. Fewer devices also means fewer qualified parts, simpler incoming inspection and a smaller failure-rate budget to manage.
  • Functional safety effort moves into the device. An ASIL-D-capable safety engine with a complete ISO 26262 documentation set shifts a meaningful share of safety evidence from system design into the component, which can shorten the ECU's overall certification cycle.
  • Design-in timing. The part is listed as "coming soon" while supply is planned until at least 2038, which suits new platform designs with long production horizons. New programs can evaluate it at architecture stage; programs closer to production should confirm sampling and volume timelines first.
  • Platform coupling. The device is positioned as a companion supply for the AURIX ecosystem, so it couples tightly with MCU selection. Projects built on other MCU platforms should validate interface and safety-mechanism compatibility early.

Shenta Technology (STST) follows the integration trend in automotive power architectures closely. Our current power management portfolio covers AC-DC controllers, DC-DC buck and boost converters, LDO regulators and battery protection ICs for applications such as on-board auxiliary supplies, charging infrastructure and industrial power — the ST3102 synchronous buck converter, for example, provides an efficient mid-power rail for control boards. If your project needs a discrete power-stage evaluation or samples, please submit your requirements through our sample request page.
